The Florida Wireless Communications Device (WCD) course is a state-approved driver safety program aimed at educating drivers on safe practices while using wireless communication devices, like cell phones or other electronic device, as well as addressing other common driving distractions.
Drivers take this course if they have been issued a citation for using a handheld wireless communications device while driving in a school crossing, school zone, or work zone and:
- have elected to take a course to have their points and associated costs waived or;
- if they have been court-ordered to take a course.

Once registered, you will have access to your program 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can log in and out as you like and pick up right where you left off when you return.
Important Notices
- First time offenders may voluntarily elect this course with the clerk of court. Drivers must also inform the clerk of court of the county the citation was issued they are electing this course.
- Drivers are required to complete a WCD course approved by FLHSMV.
- Upon completion of the WCD course, the penalties and costs associated with the infraction may be waived by the clerk of the court and the assessment of points must be waived.
- A driver may elect this course only once.
- A subsequent texting while driving conviction would be treated as a moving violation thus allowing the election of a Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) course.
Taking the Course
The Wireless Communications Device course is divided into 10 modules. Once you complete all 10 modules, there will be a final exam. This exam is made up of 20 questions based on the information within the WCD course. You have unlimited attempts to complete and pass the exam. NTSI’s systems will grade the tests and notify you immediately whether you have passed or failed. A score of 80% or more is required to pass the exam.
Once you complete the Florida WCD Course, you will be able to download and print your certificate and it will be automatically reported to the DHSMV within one business day from the day you complete. Please note, if you have been instructed to attend this course by a Judge or Court, you are responsible for delivering your certificate to the court.
