Greetings Fleet Safety Champions,

This week, our NTSI team gathers in Issaquah, Washington, where NTSI is headquartered, for the 2025 Fall Content Development Summit, where team members from across the country are coming together to strengthen the creative backbone of everything we do: Fleet Content Development.

Because, for us, content development is not just a department. It is the heartbeat of NTSI. It drives every division: Fleet, Diversion, and our LMS Software Division.

From crafting behavior-based Fleet courses that save lives on the road, to developing court and diversion programs that change lives off it, content is what connects us. It is what ensures every NTSI training, no matter the audience, embodies the same commitment to quality, relevance, behavioral change, and SAFER roads and outcomes.

Beyond Fleet: One Mission, Many Divisions

While these Tuesday Tips focus on our Fleet Division, the truth is that safety has no borders within a company that has spent more than fifty years helping people change behaviors around driving and traffic safety. The same proven, research-based behavior-modification methodology that drives our Fleet programs also powers our Diversion courses, reinforcing NTSI’s long-standing record of efficacy.

Many of our traffic safety modules originally developed for the Diversion Division have since been adapted for our Fleet clients, particularly the cities, counties, municipalities, ports, and public works departments that manage expansive fleets and interact daily with the public.

Our proprietary LMS provides clients with the flexibility to access their Fleet online content directly, pair it with their other mandatory in-house training, or upload their own unique training materials, while still benefiting from NTSI’s proven instructional design and structure. Whether online or in the classroom, one element remains constant: NTSI’s unwavering focus on behavior, accountability, and SAFER driving.

Custom Content that Connects

At NTSI, customization is not an afterthought. It is the framework on which everything else is built. We have developed a rich library of courses and modules, many of which began as unique client requests and, through continual review and refinement, have evolved into cornerstone programs within our SAFER Driver™ family.
Each course is designed to click seamlessly with others, ensuring that every lesson “plays well” with the next and is creating a greater whole.

Did you know that the word “LEGO” comes from the Danish words leg godt, meaning “play well”? The company’s founder combined the two words to form the name “LEGO,” and because the Universe is always connected and reflections abound, the Latin lego carries its own beautiful meaning, “I read” or “I collect.” Both interpretations celebrate learning and connection: one through play and creation, the other through understanding and assembly.

Across languages and centuries, both meanings speak to creation through connection, a shared understanding that building well and playing well are one and the same. It is this same spirit of thoughtful assembly, of finding ways to connect, that perfectly mirrors the NTSI philosophy of course design.

Every piece of NTSI content is created to fit purposefully with the rest, forming a cohesive structure that makes drivers more capable, confident, and consistent behind the wheel.

Built for You and SAFER Fleets

Some of our most requested programs began as one-on-one collaborations with our clients. The Van & High-Profile Vehicle Defensive Driving Program, for instance, was developed to help organizations manage larger fleet vehicles safely. The CDL Refresher Course was created for fleets with professional drivers who needed a behavioral-based reset tailored to real work conditions. Our Fire Department Driver Safety Training was designed, with an active duty firefighter, to address the unique demands of emergency response driving, focusing on awareness, self-assessment, and risk reduction.
From there, programs like our enormously popular Golf Cart and Utility Vehicle Safety, and seasonally relevant Inclement Weather SAFER Fleet Driver Training expanded our ability to bring the SAFER message to even more drivers.

Each program, each module, each brick, shares the same DNA: adaptive instruction grounded in NTSI’s SAFER model, Safer, Aware, Focused, Educated, Responsible.

The Heart of What We Do is You

Our Content Development Summit this week is a time to gather, create, refine, and design. It is where we evaluate what works, imagine what could be better, and reaffirm our shared commitment to SAFER roads and more mindful driving.

We also plan to have some fun!

Because, let’s be real, you can’t build courses, or really anything else, without first building community. To that end, one of our playfully planned adventures this week includes a visit to Jakob Two Trees, a magnificent and enormous troll created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo to celebrate connection through art and sustainability.

Like our courses, Jakob was built piece by piece, from the ground up, reminding us that what we assemble with care can bring people together. The good times will keep on building as we also explore the beauty and whimsy of the PNW, ooohing and ahhing over the autumn riot of color, smiling as locals feign nonchalance about their leaves’ splendor, sharing good food with good people, and breaking bread while cracking wise. We can’t always be serious, can we?!

Because as we said last week, who are we? We are you.

While NTSI is deeply serious about SAFER driving, we are equally committed to finding the joy that comes from discovering how each piece fits together to make something stronger: a better company, a better course, and a better road forward.

Your Tuesday Tip Takeaway

🧱 Tip 1: Think modularly. Training should grow with your organization, not apart from it. Like the best LEGO builds, courses that click together create stronger, more adaptable teams.

🚛 Tip 2: Seek programs that reflect your drivers’ realities. When content mirrors real roads and real challenges, learning connects, and it sticks.

💡 Tip 3: Choose training partners who listen and build with you. The best driver safety programs start with understanding your fleet’s unique needs and end with a structure that stands the test of time.

Whether you are stacking bricks or building better drivers, connection is what holds everything together. Fleet Content Development at NTSI is about designing training that grows with you, courses that align, adapt, and connect seamlessly to create stronger, safer teams.

Each course, each conversation, and each connection strengthens our shared road toward SAFER outcomes.

Every great build begins with connection and playing well, and sometimes the piece that makes everything click takes an unexpected form, perhaps like a Danish troll named Jakob in Issaquah, Washington.

Come connect with NTSI today, we can even introduce you to Jakob.
